1. What size treated pine sleepers do you stock?
We stock H4 treated pine sleepers in a range of sizes, including 2.4m and 3.0m lengths in 150mm and 200mm widths and 50mm, 75mm and 100mm thicknesses, so you can match sleepers to retaining walls, garden edging or raised garden beds. We also stock round logs, wingsplits and slabs in matching H4 treated pine if you want a different profile.
2. What is the difference between treated pine sleepers and railway sleepers?
H4 treated pine sleepers are a consistent, ground contact rated softwood, cut to uniform sizes and priced for everyday retaining walls, edging and garden beds. Railway sleepers, available in A grade and AAA grade hardwood, are heavier, denser and give a more rustic, timeworn look, popular for feature garden beds, steps and statement retaining walls where appearance matters as much as strength.
3. How much do treated pine sleepers cost?
H4 treated pine sleepers typically cost between $21 and $49 each depending on the length, width and thickness, with our 2.4m sleepers at the more affordable end and larger 3.0m by 200mm by 100mm sleepers towards the top. Hardwood railway sleepers cost more, from around $99 for a half sleeper up to $280 for a full AAA grade sleeper. Ace Landscape & Building Supplies delivers timber across Sydney, or you can collect from our Belrose yard.
4. How many sleepers do I need for my retaining wall or garden bed?
Measure the total length of your wall or garden bed edge in metres and divide by the length of the sleeper you're using, 2.4m or 3.0m, to get the number needed per course, then multiply by how many courses high you want the wall. Add a few extra for cutting and corners. Call our Belrose team if you'd like help planning quantities for a retaining wall or larger job.
5. What are hardwood stakes used for?
Hardwood stakes, like our Ezy Peg range in 300mm and 450mm lengths, are used to anchor sleeper walls, garden edging and timber structures firmly into the ground. They're a small but important part of any sleeper retaining wall or edging job, keeping timber in place under soil pressure and weather over time.
6. Do you deliver timber sleepers and stakes across Sydney?
Yes, we deliver treated pine sleepers, railway sleepers, stakes and other timber and building supplies across the Northern Beaches, North Shore, including Manly Vale, and out to the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, Hills District and Ryde. 7. Can I buy timber in bulk for a landscaping or building project?

Trade customers ordering regularly can set up a Trade Account for streamlined bulk ordering and invoicing.
